Map of the Greek Schools and Churches in Asia Minor, 1912

The following map shows the number of churches and schools in Asia Minor in 1912 in provinces under the jurisdiction of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. Those in the vilayet of Adana which was dependent on the Patriarchate of Antioch are not included. The total number of students of both sexes attending the schools in each region are shown with a square symbol. Symbols that appear as a cross atop a circle are the number of churches in each region.

The map was compiled by Dimitris Notis Botsaris (1889-1980) a lieutenant colonel in the Hellenic Army, member of the Geographic Company of Athens and the Société de Géographie of Paris. According to the map, there were 2,079 churches, 2,683 priests, 2,049 schools and 165,381 students in Asia Minor in 1912. The statistics were based on the Ecumenical Patriarchate census of 1912.
